Wholesaler Eurogast Austria continues to grow: AGM Zeller Group joins EUROGAST

Wholesaler Eurogast Austria continues to grow: AGM Zeller Group joins EUROGAST
Zams/Tyrol, Zell am See. 02/15/2022: ADEG Zell am See GmbH, an association of independent Pinzgau merchants, will join Eurogast Austria from 01/05/2022 with its five cash & carry locations in Altenmarkt, Bad Hofgastein, Zell am See/Maishofen, Salzburg and Hall in Tirol. This makes the Zeller Group to a shareholder of the Eurogast Austria company and henceforth to a full member of the Eurogast family as Alpin Gastro Markt GmbH. After the accession of the South Tyrolean cooperation partner Gastrofresh in summer 2021, is this the next consistent growth step of Eurogast Austria. A record turnover of over 500 million euros is expected for 2022.

Rudolf Schwarzenbacher, Managing Partner of ADEG Zell am See GmbH: "As an innovative merger of regionally anchored Austrian family businesses, Eurogast Austria is the ideal partner for us and our customers. With the retreat of the German retail chain REWE/ADEG from the cash & carry business, a reorientation became necessary. The AGM brand was essentially shaped by merchants from Zell and has now been with us for more than 50 years. We would like to thank our previous REWE/ADEG partners for the trusting, long-term cooperation but we are now looking forward to a future as part of the Austrian Eurogast family. We will continue on our way as a reliable, regionally anchored partner for the hotel industry, gastronomy and community caterers in Salzburg and Tyrol and in the future at our five locations under the Eurogast brand and with the Eurogast partners even more Austria, even more regionality and offer even more personal support with our innovative gastro delivery service," says Schwarzenbacher.
Eurogast is now present throughout Austria
With the five additional locations in Salzburg and Tyrol, Eurogast closes an important gap in their Austria-wide offer. "We are pleased to welcome the Zeller Group as a new member of our family" says Peter Krug, Managing Director of Eurogast Austria. “The Zeller are regionally anchored merchants, like all our Eurogast shareholders. And the people of Zell have lived the same values as we do at Eurogast for many decades," says Krug. With handshake quality, trust and regional anchoring, paired with a national organizational structure and the international expertise of partners such as Gastrofresh, as well as the membership in the Europe-wide ECD network (European Catering Distributors), Eurogast stands for reliability in every respect. "We will all do our best to welcome our new family members of the Zeller Group and to enable them to have a smooth transition," adds Krug.
Use of synergies for the benefit of customers
With the retreat of the REWE Group from the cash & carry business, the AGM own brands will be successively phased out at the five locations of the Zeller Group and replaced from May 1st by the product portfolio of the Eurogast own brand, which has been successfully introduced to the Austrian market for 30 years. "But of course, as before, we will continue to design our range according to regional requirement at our five locations," emphasizes Schwarzenbacher. Krug added: “By joining Eurogast, however, there are more possibilities for the Zeller Group in terms of product range design and depth. In the future, the Zeller Group will also have access to all services and performance of Eurogast”. According to Krug, this included the use of the web shop, the entire IT infrastructure, the Best.Friend app and the Best.Friend PRO device. Services such as flyers, wholesale promotions and the customer magazine "Insights" will also be available to customers of the future Alpin Gastro Markt GmbH from May 1st. "Due to the new size, the reinforcement by the Zeller Group and the special regionally anchored structure of Eurogast, we are now even more competitive, more powerful, faster and more distinguishable from the large international groups. Our customers can enjoy the service and reliable quality of family-run companies in the region without having to forego the advantages of an internationally oriented company," concludes Krug.
